Living in Harmony with the Seasons : WINTER

Winter is a time of cold, dark and stillness, which means it's important for us to have warmth, rest and quiet. Like the plants, our energy is going inward and like the New Year, we take stock. It can be a good time to inwardly review the past, recover and recoup from the previous year and be curious about what might be next....the possibilities, the unknown.

In Chinese Medicine winter is associated with the Water Element along with many other associations. A few additional associations to water that may be fun to contemplate this winter are wisdom, going with the flow, adapting. The important body associations are Kidneys, Bladder, ears, bones and low back.

A few suggestions for trying to stay in harmony this winter......

Mediate, rest, sleep longer ......

Eat soups, bone broth, miso, beans.......

Massage or rub your ears, click your teeth together, rub your low back & kidneys, keep your feet warm.

Quiet exercises like Qi Gong.......

This winter enjoy the practice of soft and yielding water.
